According to the OEM, there is an increased risk for blade tip liberation on the row 1 compressor blades. Causal factors for the liberations include operational environment, corrosion pitting and a degraded material property from tip rubbing.
The best way to mitigate the issue is through advanced Inspections including Eddy Current and ultrasonic Phased Array (UTPA). Our proprietary method is the ONLY NDT provider to develop an inspection methodology to inspect BOTH sides of the airfoil.
